Am I awake yet....?

Mornings are not my time of day. The world is all smudgy, and I really can't focus until sunlight hits the window pane. But here I am, first day of this adventure called Sharathon, and I am writing away. It's early and I'm here in my office, away from the action, but I can imagine...

Adrenaline is flowing through the microphones... fresh baked smells are beginning to drift from the kitchen. Mary is filling the Welcome Center with overloads of positive energy, and the IT guys (God bless them!) are most likely dead into tweaking all the complexities that go into making this huge undertaking a living thing. A living thing.

And it's all because of Jesus.

What a spot-on theme for times such as these! I don't know that we've ever before entered a Sharathon in the midst of such a season of change. It would be easy to focus on fear. It would be easy to lament the lack of familiar things. It would be easy to close the shutters, hunker down and cling to the past....

But living things change and grow. And only living things can fully express the One who is Life. That's why I'm here. That's why you're here. That's why Family Life is here... to be alive in Christ - and bear the life of the risen Lord into a dead world. Whew!

"Giver of every breath I breathe
Author of all eternity
Giver of every perfect thing
to You be the glory...."

Deep breath. Sharathon has begun
.
